Outdoor Play

At Little Loco’s Day Nursery, we believe that outdoor play and interaction with nature are essential parts of a child’s development. That’s why we’ve created an expansive outdoor area that offers children a rich, engaging environment where they can learn, explore, and grow. From our vibrant play zones to our charming kitchen garden, your little one will enjoy the best of what nature has to offer.

Our Outdoor Play Area: Adventure, Exploration, and Learning

Our Outdoor Play Area: Adventure, Exploration, and Learning
Our outdoor space is designed to ignite children’s natural curiosity and provide endless opportunities for imaginative play. Whether it’s running through open spaces, climbing on our child-safe play structures, or participating in group games, the outdoor area encourages children to develop both their physical and social skills.
Highlights of our outdoor space include:

• Adventure Playground: Equipped with slides, tunnels, and climbing frames, perfect for building strength, coordination, and confidence.

• Sensory Garden: A calming space filled with a variety of plants and textures, where children can explore their senses and learn about the natural world.

• Mud Kitchen: A favorite with our little chefs! Children can create imaginative “meals” with mud, water, and natural ingredients, fostering creativity and collaboration.

The Kitchen Garden: Growing, Learning, and Eating Fresh

Our kitchen garden is a unique part of Little Loco’s outdoor space, teaching children the joys of growing their own food and understanding where it comes from. The garden is lovingly cared for by our team and the children themselves, offering hands-on learning experiences as they plant, nurture, and harvest vegetables, herbs, and fruits throughout the year.
The kitchen garden offers:
•Vegetable Beds: We grow a variety of seasonal vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, and peas, allowing the children to see the full cycle of growth, from seed to harvest.
•Herb Garden: Children can pick fresh herbs like mint, basil, and rosemary, using their senses of touch and smell to discover the natural world.
•Composting Area: We teach the children the importance of sustainability by showing them how to compost food scraps and garden waste, fostering a respect for the environment.
•Harvest Days: Children love helping with the harvest! They take pride in collecting fresh produce, which is then used in our daily meals and snacks, giving them a true farm-to-table experience.

Connecting Nature to Nutrition

What makes our kitchen garden truly special is that the fresh produce we grow is used in the meals prepared by our team. Children get to experience the full farm-to-fork journey, understanding how the food they help grow becomes the nutritious meals they enjoy every day. This hands-on experience also fosters healthy eating habits, as children are more likely to try and enjoy new fruits and vegetables when they’ve been part of the growing process.

At Little Loco’s Day Nursery, we are committed to creating a learning environment that extends beyond the classroom. Our outdoor space and kitchen garden provide a fun, interactive way for children to connect with nature, develop essential life skills, and cultivate a sense of responsibility for the world around them.
